Kettle Corn

I am a proud owner of a Whirly Pop, but sadly, my favorite stove-top appliance is back in Arizona. So I'm left to make homemade popcorn in a large pot. It works just fine, but it's not nearly as fun to use!

One of my favorite snacks is kettle corn, and homemade is really the only way to go.
Here is an easy, healthier recipe for kettle corn (in a pot - or Whirly Pop, if you're fortunate enough to have one!).

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup popcorn kernels
  • salt, to taste
Pour oil in large pot, and place one kernel of popcorn in oil. Heat over medium-high. Watch until single kernel pops. Then add sugar and remaining kernels. Cover, then shake pot and watch as your popcorn comes to life! Continually shake pot to make sure each kernel is able to pop. Cook until popping stops.

Pour in bowl and top with salt. Munch away!

Tonight we're cuddled up watching a movie: what a perfect time for popcorn!
