Steamed Broccoli with Lemon and Garlic

When I was little, the ONLY vegetable I would eat was broccoli stems. Not the fun, flowery tree part, but the boring trunk.

A lot has changed since then. I love all types of vegetables, and broccoli is one of my favorites. Tonight I made my usual steamed broccoli, but decided to add some lemon and garlic to the  mix. It was a good choice.

Steamed Broccoli with Lemon and Garlic

  • 1 small bunch broccoli
  • I just love the bright green color the broccoli turns when steamed!

    1 clove minced garlic
  • juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • salt and pepper
Cut broccoli into small florets. In a steamer over boiling water cook broccoli, covered, for 4 minutes.

While broccoli is steaming, prepare olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, salt and pepper in skillet over medium heat. Once broccoli is crisp-tender, place into skillet and stir to coat with mixture. Sautee in skillet for a minute or two.
