If I ever want to impress guests at a BBQ, I'm definitely going to make this. These mushrooms and onions make an otherwise boring burger into somewhat of a gourmet meal!
The meaty texture of the mushrooms, and soft sweet taste of onions is perfect to top grilled burgers.
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 onion, sliced
- 1/3 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- glug of red wine
Melt butter in skillet. Add onions and sautee over medium heat for 20-30 minutes.
Add garlic and thyme; cook for a minute.
Add mushrooms and season with salt and pepper. Cook on low heat until tender, about 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add broth and wine to deglaze the pan. Simmer for 5 minutes until reduced.
